Best Laid Plans A Brother Best Friend Standalone Romance edition by LK Farlow Literature Fiction eBooks

LK Farlow's Best Laid Plans is her best work yet! I have read each book in her catalog and I have marveled at the growth of her storytelling over the last year. Best Laid Plans embodies the sweet, sizzle and fun that we expect from a book written by LK Farlow. But it employs something new as well, an increase in the angst from her other titles. The fact that LK Farlow upped that emotion made this romance more realistic—I feel like if a woman was kept a secret of the magnitude that Natalie had, they would undoubtedly find themselves in a very similar situation.

Best Laid Plans is a brother’s best friend, second chance romance. It’s written in dual perspectives. The hero, Alden is a few years older than the heroine, Natalie and has been living abroad for several years. When he returns to his hometown, his attraction to his best friends’ little sister is stronger than ever. That is until he finds out she’s kept a monumental secret from him and her whole family. This slow burn romance is sweet and sexy. Alden is swoon-worthy and Natalie’s daughter, Tatum, reminded me so much of my own three-year-old and had me cracking up. I loved that LK Farlow upped the angst factor in Best Laid Plans from some of the previous stories she’s told. I think the storyline would have suffered if she hadn’t pushed her boundaries. Best Laid Plans is an easy read. You can sit down, jump in and read it in one sitting and you’ll come away from this romance believing in second chances!

Best Laid Plans A Brother Best Friend Standalone Romance edition by LK Farlow Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Best Laid Plans is my new favorite from LK Farlow! It was emotional, humorous and heartwarming.

As a single mother with a son from a one night stand, I was able to relate to and understand Natalie in a way that I'm not sure everyone will be able too. She is forced to make some very difficult decisions at a very young age and although she may regret them, I get it it and have made the same decisions myself.

Alden is such a perfect hero, but not in an overly gross unrealistic way. He was flawed to perfection, if that makes sense. He was a great man, and even better father. His reaction to discovering his daughter felt so authentic, they way he conducted himself with Tatum and Natalie brought tears to my eyes in many instances.

I think the most heartbreaking scenes were when Tatum asked about her father and the way she instantly bonded with Alden, not eve knowing who he was their connection was pure and immediate.

I cannot say enough good things about this story, and probably the best part of all is the epilogue takes us right into Natalie's brothers story and I can't wait for it!!!
I did not enjoy this story as much as I thought I would.I liked what it was about and the little girl, but the adults not so much. (Spoiler) The main female character made choices that were right for her and her daughter at the time. I couldn’t understand how she could still have such strong feelings for this guy after everything he said and did. Did not make sense to me. Never felt the connection.
Seventeen year old Natalie has a plan. Perhaps not the best laid plan that the title alludes to, but a plan nonetheless, to get her brother's best friend Aiden, to notice her as a woman, and not just as his friend's little sister, before he heads back to college for his junior year.

It works ... up to a point, that being him waking up the next morning, thanks to a few too many beers, with no memory of the night before. A night that subsequently resulted in a positive pregnancy test.

Thanks to a variety of factors, Natalie makes what seems to be the best choice available to her at the time, and keeps their forgotten encounter, and therefore the identity of the child's father, a secret.

That seems to work out okay for the next four years until Aiden moves back to town, and by a quirk of fate becomes Natalie's new boss, and the complicated becomes a cluster....

While playing fast and loose with a variety of popular romance tropes, with this book Author LK Farlow has produced in this book what is to my mind, primarily a coming of age story that's hopelessly entangled with a love story.

They say that with age comes wisdom, and even at twenty-one, Natalie can look back at the choices she made at seventeen and understand the implications and consequences that her younger self could never have imagined, and yet there's no going back and changing things.

The unfolding drama has almost every significant relationship in the story being tested. Not just the developing and maturing relationship between Natalie and Aiden, but between each of them and Natalie's parents and older brother, with almost everyone feeling betrayed in one way or another.

Over the last month or so I've read all of Farlow's preceding works and while I've enjoyed them all, this is far and away her best work yet. Set out with pathos and pacing, sensitivity and creativity, this story drew me in and kept me entranced, invested in not just the main players, but in the whole relational dynamic right to the very last page.
